We are currently open for business, however, we have taken the decision not to send baby gifts at this time. Given that our gifts will be delivered to a vulnerable group in the population, new born babies, we have taken the decision NOT to dispatch orders at this time. We note that more and more online retailers are suspending their operations, if non-essential, to reduce pressure on front line delivery staff and we also support this approach. If you place an order today, we will dispatch it once things settle or once the lockdown has been lifted. We thank you for your co-operation at this time.

Chill Out to Conceive

29/05/2012

If you're planning on getting pregnant one of the best things you can do to increase your chances of conceiving is to relax. The fact that high levels of stress may delay pregnancy has always been known anecdotally. Many couples get pregnant on holiday. But scientists have now measured stress hormones in women and found that the most stressed women had less chance of becoming pregnant. And it's not just mothers who need to relax, fathers do too.

Factors like smoking and drinking are known to decrease chances of pregnancy but up until now the effects of stress have been unclear. The study found that women with high levels of the stress hormone adrenalin, the body's fight or flight hormone, had about a 12percent less chance of getting pregnant during their fertile days compared with women with low levels of the hormone. Couples need to chill out too. Often the father's attitude to getting pregnant has a large impact on the would-be mother. Studies are taking place to measure the effects of stress hormones on men too. Trying yoga, relaxation techniques or meditation together to increase your chances of pregnancy and you may even have fun too!
